Why Ladakh Deserves Its Own Trip (Not Just an Add-On)
Ladakh — the Land of High Passes — is arguably the most dramatic landscape on Earth that’s accessible without technical mountaineering skills. At elevations between 3,500m and 5,600m, this cold desert plateau in the western Himalayas offers a world entirely unlike anything else in India: Tibetan Buddhist monasteries perched on sheer cliffs, turquoise lakes that reflect a sky so blue it feels unreal, lunar-like valleys striped with ochre and rust, and a silence so profound you can hear your own heartbeat.
Unlike Kashmir’s lush green valleys, Ladakh is stark, spare, and otherworldly. It demands slightly more preparation (altitude acclimatisation is essential, not optional), a longer trip duration (minimum 7 nights), and ideally a guided tour for first-timers — but the rewards are proportionally extraordinary. Those who have visited Pangong Tso at sunrise, or stood at Khardung La at 5,359m, rarely describe it as merely a “nice trip.”

Permits Required for Ladakh (2025)
Indian nationals require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to visit restricted areas including Nubra Valley, Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri, and Dah-Hanu. The ILP is obtained online via the Leh District Magistrate’s website or through your tour operator. Foreign nationals require a Protected Area Permit (PAP), also managed through the DM’s office. All permits are handled by Travel My Country as part of our packaged tours — no separate paperwork required for our guests.
