April–June: Meadows bloom with wildflowers, rivers are high and fast from snowmelt. Perfect weather (12–22°C). July–August Amarnath Yatra season brings heavy footfall around Chandanwari — avoid if you prefer quiet. September–October: Our top pick — cool, clear, autumn leaves in the poplar and chinar trees along the Lidder, minimal crowds. The 3 km riverside walk in October is genuinely beautiful. November–March: Pahalgam receives significant snowfall (1–2 m in January). Hotels operate at reduced capacity, roads to Betaab/Chandanwari may be closed.
